Why Join Scouting
Why Join Scouting?
Scouting offers youth an unmatched opportunity to grow in character, leadership, and life skills. Through hands-on adventures, outdoor experiences, and community service, Scouts build confidence and friendships that last a lifetime.
- Character development — Scouts learn the values of the Scout Oath and Law through practice, not just words.
- Outdoor adventure — Camping, hiking, canoeing, and more keep Scouts active and connected to nature.
- Leadership skills — Youth-led activities teach responsibility, teamwork, and decision-making.
- Community service — Scouts give back through service projects that make a real difference.
- Lifelong friendships — Shared experiences create bonds that last well beyond Scouting years.
What to Expect
Cub Scouts (K–5th grade): Den meetings are held roughly monthly (varies by den), with monthly Pack meetings on Monday evenings (6:30–7:30 PM) at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Pack campouts and outdoor activities happen about 6 times per year. Cub Scouting is family-oriented — parents stay with their Scouts for meetings and campouts. There is no fundraising requirement.
Scouts BSA (6th–12th grade): Troop meetings are every Wednesday, 7:00–8:15 PM. Monthly weekend campouts run August through November and January through May, plus a 4-day winter camp in December and week-long summer camp in June. The program is Scout-led — Scouts plan meetings, lead campouts, and manage their patrols.
